The SCC Office of Women's Policy and the Office of Gender Based Violence Prevention join forces with the YWCA Silicon Valley to make the community safe and violence free.

History was made on August 23, 2019 as the San Jose, CA Police Department raised the rainbow flag at headquarters for the first time ever in recognition of Silicon Valley Pride 2019. The flag raising also set a precedence for local law enforcement nationwide.

Census2020

Census 2020 is approaching and the Office of LGBTQ Affairs along with the Division of Equity and Social Justice will be working closely with the Santa Clara County - Office of the Census to ensure all communities are counted. The “citizenship” question will NOT be a part of Census 2020. In this Special Report, Deputy County Executive David Campos encourages community members to participate.

OLGBTQ June 2019 Update

This month the County of Santa Clara, California Board of Supervisors (County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, Dave Cortese, Cindy Chavez, Mike Wasserman) joined the Office of LGBTQ Affairs and community stakeholders to denouce violence against the transgender community at the Pride with Purpose Rally. Plus the first ever LGBTQ Summit was held in the County of Santa Clara. Also, see how one LGBTQ ally (Cody Barlow)is celebrating PRIDE.
